Environmentally aware exhibitors choose green stands
A special green emblem will show TUR visitors which exhibitors have joined the TUR climate compensation scheme. This will be highlighted at their individual stands and in the official TUR catalogue. Even now, months before the fair, around a fifth of the exhibitors have already decided to join in and invest a little extra in the environment.
The scheme is simple but effective. TUR exhibitors who wish to join in pay an extra SEK 5 per square metre stand rental as climate compensation. The total sum donated by the exhibitors will be matched, krona for krona, by TUR. The money will then be sent to The CarbonNeutral Company in England, who will invest it in various environmental projects.
“Exhibitors who join the climate compensation scheme are offered a green emblem for the stand and a similar green emblem in both the printed and online versions of the TUR catalogue. So it will be clearly visible who has chosen to invest in this scheme,” said Deputy Exhibition Manager Per Magnusson.
“The money will be put into various projects involving renewable energy sources. It may, for example, go to build wind power farms or install solar panels in India.”
So far, over 20 per cent of exhibitors who have already booked for TUR 2009 have opted for climate compensation. But there is still time for exhibitors to demonstrate their environmental commitment. Anyone who wants to climate compensate their stand can do so right up to the day the fair opens.
