This is how!
TUR is reducing the climate impact of next year’s event by working with the world’s most experienced and respected climate consulting business - The CarbonNeutral Company. Visitors to TUR 2009 will be able to tick a box on their booking form to contribute SEK 5 per square metre towards reducing the overall carbon dioxide emissions created by the event. TUR will then match the total and the combined amount will be invested by The CarbonNeutral Company in verified, carbon-saving projects.

The projects
The CarbonNeutral Company has a range of carbon offset projects such as solar schemes in India to hydro-power in China and methane capture in Germany, offering both CERs (Certified Emission Reductions under the KyotoProtocol’s Clean Development Mechanism) and smaller scale VERs (Verified Emission Reductions). All projects are published in The CarbonNeutral Company’s online registry and a third party (2007 was PwC) is commissioned each year to verify all aspects of the carbon management chain.

The CarbonNeutral Company also operates to a public standard - The CarbonNeutral Protocol. It incorporates international best practice and is independently reviewed with input from the Independent Advisory Group, which includes representatives from business, NGOs, science and academia.
