24–27 September are the dates for Göteborg Book Fair, at the Swedish Exhibition Centre in Göteborg. With over 100,000 visitors this is the largest cultural event in the Nordic region.
Scandinavia and the world meet in Göteborg
The Göteborg Book Fair is the best place to get an overview of the literature from the Scandinavian countries. You will also meet many of the world's most prominent intellectuals who come here to discuss, debate and voice their opinions.
Spain in focus
This year the Book Fair celebrates its 25th anniversary and turns its eyes south, to one of the great cultural centres of Europe – Spain.
- The Book Fair in Göteborg 2009 will be the perfect platform to present the Spanish culture to Sweden and to all Nordic Countries. The aim is to present a broad spectrum of the Spanish culture, says Mónica Fernández Muñoz, project leader from the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
Bicentennial 1809
2009 is the 200th anniversary of the division of Finland and Sweden. The Book Fair will host different events marking the bicentennial and the project 'Märkesåret 1809' in seminars and events.
