Help seriously ill children to make their dreams come true at TUR

HRH Princess Madeleine is the Foundation’s patron. Our loyal goodwill ambassadors include popular television hosts Martin Timell and Tobbe Blom, world champion high jumper Kajsa Bergqvist, singers Nanne Grönvall and Amy Diamond, and adventurer Johan Ernst Nilson.
Exhibitors at TUR can now help seriously ill children to make their dreams come true by taking part in an auction, both online and at TUR. Every penny of the proceeds of the auction will go to Stiftelsen MinStoraDag (My Big Day Foundation), and be devoted to its projects for children. TUR will actively promote the auction in all its communications, PR activities and TUR’s visitor marketing. TUR exhibitors will be given a unique opportunity to feature in this unique venture for the benefit of sick children.
My Big Day Foundation
Every year, hundreds of children become seriously ill. The My Big Day Foundation, which was started in 2000, helps children between 3-18 years of age who need encouragement when their treatment is tough. The work is carried out on a wholly voluntary basis, and is determined by the children’s needs and wishes. The My Big Day Foundation is funded by donations from companies, other foundations and individuals. The foundation has an approved charity giro account (so-called 90 Account) overseen by Svensk Insamlingskontroll (Swedish Foundation for Fund-Raising Control).
Typical My Big Day activities carried out in 2009: an 8-year old boy met his football idol Zlatan Ibrahimovic; an 11-year old girl swam with dolphins; a boy of 4 visited Astrid Lindgren’s World, and a girl of 17 learned to blow glass. The mission of the My Big Day Foundation is to make dreams like these come true. The only limits are the limits of the imagination.
It is the hospitals, and the hospitals alone, that decide which children will have their dreams come true. The My Big Day Foundation is involved with all the hospitals, children’s hospitals and clinics, and young people’s clinics in Sweden. In 2009, more than 300 projects were organised: Big Days, group activities and camps, and the Foundation reached approximately 1,000 children. Our long-term goal is to reach all seriously ill children in Sweden.

TUR 2010 - auction in aid of My Big Day
Send in your unique experience/travel/adventure packages by Friday 5 March at tur@minstoradag.org
All packages donated for the auction must be received no later than Friday 5 March in the form of gift certificates or vouchers. The donating exhibitors must also include information on the estimated value in SEK, clear directions on how the booking is to be made, an illustration suitable for use on for the web, plus a heading and text describing the experience/travel/adventure package (max 600 characters). It will be helpful if the participating exhibitors would send us their company logo digitally.
Auction format
All stands/main exhibitors at TUR 2010 will be given the opportunity to donate one (1) experience/travel/adventure package to a charity auction. All the money raised by the auction will be used for MinStoraDag (My Big Day) activities that help seriously ill children to make their dreams come true. In addition to helping a good cause, this also provides an opportunity to appear in a favourable context that has won the hearts of a lot of people.
Auction online and at TUR
The donated packages will be auctioned as follows:
- The public will be able to bid online on tur.se and minstoradag.org (see attached sketch). They can also bid in writing at the MinStoraDag stand (F01:32) on Sat 27 and Sun 28 March.
- The auction will commence on Wednesday 17 March, one week before the fair opens. It will end on Monday 29 March as per an automatic countdown function on the web site.
- 20 handpicked packages will be selected for an entertaining and exciting live auction conducted by a well-known auctioneer on 27 and 28 March at 14.00 (10 packages per day) at the MinStoraDag stand (F01:32).
Exposure of concept and packages
Each participating exhibitor will receive a digital template for a poster (see attached template) with information about the auction and space to present their package. The exhibitors can display their poster on their stand in the way which suits them best, thereby showing that they support My Big Day during the fair by donating a package to the auction.
- Information about the auction will be distributed via all participating stands and to visitors.
- TUR will prepare a press release about the auction and post information on tur.se
- TUR will provide information about the auction in a large part of its visitor marketing.
- TUR will include information about the auction in all its communications regarding TUR’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities.
- My Big Day will provide information about the TUR fair in its internal and external communications, but will not advertise the auction other than at the TUR fair.
- TUR will point out the MinStoraDag (My Big Day) stand (where the auction will be held) on the TUR Visitors’ Map.
Contents of packages
Packages can consist of one or more different components. In this way, any co-exhibitor will be able to contribute, if so desired. It is, however, important that the package has a clear and coherent theme so that the various elements of the package can be combined and, when combined, produce a good overall experience.
