Strong venues make for a strong industry

TUR is focusing on increasing its presence throughout the year and not just during the hectic days of the trade fair in March. One step has been to become a co-organiser of the Travel & Tourism Gala in Stockholm.
“We want to help strengthen the industry’s meeting places, even those outside TUR,” says Per Magnusson, Deputy Exhibition Manager.

The aim is to help develop the autumn’s most important venue and know-how day for the travel and tourism industry.

“It’s important for the industry to have meeting places and TUR wants to be part of facilitating this,” says Per Magnusson.

The Swedish tourism industry is strong and is increasingly positioning itself, something that Per Magnusson sees as very positive.

“A strong industry means a strong TUR fair,” he says.

In the run-up to the Travel & Tourism Gala, Tourist Agency Day and Destination Development Day were arranged in Malmö by FörTur (Swedish Tourism Associated) on 20 and 21 October respectively. TUR was, of course, on the spot. The special days in Malmö focused on the clear upswing of the Swedish tourism industry. Swedes are choosing to remain in Sweden, and incoming travel has also increased.

“Working up the Swedish tourism industry has been a long-term job. Now we’re beginning to be rewarded for our pains,” says Per Magnusson.
