School meals of the future with Carola Magnusson

Meet Carola Magnusson, school dinner guru and star of Swedish television food programme Matakuten. In the school dinner hall of the future she serves school meals prepared mainly from organic produce. She explains how important school food is for growing children, and how chefs, teachers and parents can influence children’s food habits in the schools of the future.
“Interfood is a superb arena for me to pass on my message of food that is cooked locally. A school lunch that is made from fresh ingredients, not preheated industrial food in the form of powder, readymade minced products or pressed meat. The entire food industry will be here – exhibitors and visitors,” says Carola.

Sharpest Chef

See onions chopped at lightning speed and fish filleted with ultimate precision. The Sharpest Chef is a competition in supreme culinary dexterity organised by the restaurant magazine Restauratören.

The Sharpest Chef is a competition that rewards the daily skills that chefs use to earn their living and help ensure a profitable kitchen: speed, precision, know-how and quality. Compared with other challenges for chefs, which are often a marathon lasting several hours, the Sharpest Chef is definitely a sprint event.

The winner of the Sharpest Chef 2009 will be chosen during Interfood at the Swedish Exhibition Centre in Gothenburg on 18 May at 10.30 am
