Climate compensation - this is how!
TUR is reducing the climate impact for TUR 2011 by working with The Carbon Neutral Company (TCNC)
TCNC was founded 1997 and is a world leading provider of carbon reduction solutions and one of the world’s most experienced and respected climate consulting businesses. Exhibitors to TUR 2011 is able to tick a box on their booking form to contribute SEK 10 per square meter towards reducing the overall carbon footprint created by the event. TUR then adds SEK 5 for every square meter contributed by the exhibitors. The total amount will be invested in TCNC:s carbon offset project in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
Kurkumbh Bagasse is a CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) project and implements a cogeneration power plant that runs on bagasse, which is a by-product of sugar cane farming. The new power plant replaces an oil-fired boiler and produces both steam and electricity for the agricultural and pharmaceutical industries.
The bagasse is collected from the local area and stored on site to provide a year-round renewable energy source for the power plant. Attaching a value to bagasse provides an additional income stream for farmers and helps create jobs in its collection and transportation.
