The fusions of the future3

It’s here: Material Fusion – the first unified product development trade fair in the Nordic region. With our new trade fair concept, we have created a complete arena for innovative product development. Scanplast, Electronix and Konstruktion & Design have undergone a mutual change and joined forces to become a new, cross-sector meeting place. Here, the central concept is “meetings” – meetings between people, between sectors and between materials.

In the heart of the Nordic Region

The Swedish Exhibition Centre is the place – an obvious choice given that Gothenburg is a “Nordic crossroads” where you will find the best in both industry and leisure. Quite simply, it is an ideal meeting point.

Everyday fusions

Today, more-or-less all products are the result of material fusions. Just take a look at your mobile phone, for example: plastic, electronics, design and construction blended together in a single unit. JAS jets, sneakers, bikes, sewing machines and forestry equipment, cars, scooters and furniture; all are born of successful merging. Come to Material Fusion and show the world of product development what you have to offer the fusions of the future!

“I’m looking forward to the exciting new mix of design, functionality and materials.”
Ole Jan Myhre, Marketing Manager at the Norwegian company Norner

– Material Fusion; what does the name actually stand for?
“Fusion involves blending together, and that is exactly what is required to give product development a boost. Fusion between materials generates new properties: lighter, stronger, softer, biologically degradable. You can also view it as a fusion between areas of knowledge, and – in particular – between people.”
Anders Breitholtz

Anders Breitholtz, CEO of Raw Sweden, a partner in the initiative.

– What are the benefits of the new trade fair concept?
“When exhibitors at one trade fair are simultaneously visitors at another, win-win situations will inevitably arise. We can be sure of inspiring return across sector boundaries.”
Hans Reich

Hans Reich of the Chalmers Industrial College is a member of the trade fair development council. He has extensive experience in the fields of design and concept development, having worked on such assignments for Volvo Cars, Volvo Penta, Borealis Industrier and SAAB Automobile.

– Why have the trade fairs joined forces?
“It is a matter of keeping up with the rapid development, and we know from experience that when industry and design meet in an informal context, new opportunities open up. The meeting itself generates an incredible number of exciting ideas, and these soon translate into business!”
Anki Fagerström

Anki Fagerström is the executive responsible for the trade fair, and was previously responsible for “Konstruktion & Design” the parallel event to Scanplast.
