Record high international interest in Scanpack
Japan and China sending large delegations

This year Scanpack, Northern Europe´s largest packaging exhibition, has created record-breaking interest among international visitors.

“It´s great that we received such a great response for Sweden and Scanpack,” says Anders Eliasson, Invest Sweden. “We didn’t anticipate this huge interest when we started planning for these delegations.”

International interest in Scanpack, 23-26 October, at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre in Gothenburg, has never been greater. In addition to the large number of advance bookings from countries in all parts of the world, Invest Sweden has managed to attract more industrial sectors and individual companies than normal.

“Two must-mentions are the 26-strong delegation from Japan and the 15-strong delegation from China,” says Anders Eliasson, Head of Materials Science (packaging and fibre), Invest Sweden.

“The Chinese delegation is made up solely of CEOs or board members. The Japanese group, with more engineers and product managers, has a somewhat stronger focus on technology. Both groups represent big companies, the biggest ones with 30,000 to 40,000 employees.”

India and South Korea
In addition to the two large delegations mentioned above, Invest Sweden will also be arranging single company visits for four companies from India, plus one of South Korea’s foremost food and packaging companies.

“The people from the Indian companies want to come on their own, not in conjunction with other companies. It’s obvious that their cultural attitudes are different to the Japanese, for example, who prefer to come in groups.”

So what’s the reason for all this interest in Scanpack?
“There’s a tremendous amount of interest in Swedish packaging technology in itself. So when Scanpack, Scandinavia’s biggest and most important packaging fair, is on, people see a great opportunity to get up to speed on the subject,” says Anders Eliasson.

“Japanese companies, for example, see Sweden as an ideal gateway to the Scandinavian market. Scanpack is the industry´s only international exhibition and meetings venue in Scandinavia. And it’s the place to benefit from a great mix of innovative technology and thinking, business opportunities and new contacts.”
